We need your letter of support...
Dear Friend...
I am writing to you on behalf of St John’s House Trust, a registered charity formed by local
Bridgend residents in 2012 with aim of buying St Johns House, Newcastle Hill Bridgend. The
Trust's aim is to restore this Grade II* listed medieval townhouse to enable it to become a
local and national focal point serving public, education and business uses, making a positive
contribution to the surrounding community and to the town of Bridgend.
St John’s House has the potential to be a facility that the local community can use whilst
making a connection with Bridgend’s and South Wales’ past. However, in order for the
project to succeed, it must be sustainable and future uses of the building need to contribute
towards its upkeep. A recent ‘Options Appraisal Report’ identified the need for a multi-use
venue, and functions such as weddings, exhibition of local artists works, a place for
community groups and business meetings, a venue for parties, performance pieces and
filming, as well as a shop and traditional tea rooms have been identified as possible future
uses.
In order to assist in making this a reality, we are currently applying to the Heritage Lottery
Fund and other bodies for grant assistance. We therefore need to prove to the various funders
that there is sufficient interest in future use of the building and we are thus seeking letters of
support and wondered if this is something you would consider assisting us with. I have taken
the opportunity of drafting a sample letter that you may wish to use, or use as a basis for one
of your own.
Yours sincerely
Ken Hinton
